What is critical thinking?

Critical thinking is taking the information given for an issue or a situation and taking a stand or making a decision on the issue or situation, respectively. Critical thinking is not just thinking hard or thinking a lot, although those things are just a part of critical thinking as a whole. It's about taking opinions of others and the information about a certain issue and making an informed decision or opinion based on those factors.

Critical thinking can be described as "thinking outside the box," but it is not limited to just that. Critical thinking is important for everyday life. It is also important for decisions that have to made like voting or perhaps representing someone in a court case.
